Vigil for TDOR 2023. On Monday, we gathered together to remember those who lost their lives over the last year from around the world. Over 200 people gathered to show support for Drag Queen Storytime in Oxford on Tuesday. A group of about 30 had come to protest against the event happening but were met with a crowd singing, dancing and showing queer joy. We were able to counter the harassment aimed at the children and parents attending with colour and music. On Saturday the 9th of July, we joined London Trans Pride in a march for liberation, justice and freedom. Our vision is a future free of violence from this system: an end to harsh policing, psychiatry, conversion therapy and waiting lists that are killing us. It was an honour to join @oxfordagainstct in the fight to keep trans and non binary people in the ban against conversion therapy! The turnout was amazing and the energy and solidarity high. Yesterday around 30 people in Abingdon, and countless around the country, protested the new “Police, crime, sentencing and courts” bill. Amongst other things this bill severely limits the right to protest. Effectively allowing police to claim a protest is illegal, even just because there’s a possibility it MIGHT annoy someone. This evening we held a small vigil in honour of trans day of remembrance. Thank You to everyone who came, the passers by who expressed solidarity, and those who sent messages supporting us. We read the names of some of our lost siblings, held a minutes silence, and expressed our thoughts of sorrow and of strength and inspiration to each other.
