In this session, we’ll ask ourselves how we – people who’ve internalized (harmful) masculinity – can hold ourselves accountable for when we crossed someone’s boundaries. Transgressive behavior is not only done by the monsters among men, it happens every day, and is done by everyone of us. Sometimes boundaries are vague and maybe you think it’s just a ‘joke’, sometimes boundaries are more clear and still you decide to continue. What do we need to do to hold ourselves and each other accountable for our harmful behavior? Note: in this session we will be talking about the lower layers of the piramid of gender-based violence and not ask to share severe forms of transgressive behavior, like sexual assault. We hope to create a space in which we can all be open, honest and vulnerable so that we can share experiences that help us to hold ourselves and each other accountable. For this session, too, we explicitly invite people who’ve internalized harmful masculinities.

In der Nacht vom 16. auf den 17. November 1990 legten Täter einen Brand in einem Kemptener Mehrfamilienhaus, in dem türkischstämmige Familien lebten. Der fünfjährige Ercan starb an einer Rauchgasvergiftung, mehrere Angehörige wurden schwer verletzt. Kurz nach der Tat tauchte ein Bekennerschreiben der „Anti-Kanaken-Front Kempten“ auf. Es wies eindeutig auf ein rassistisches Motiv hin. Trotzdem behandelten Polizei und Staatsanwaltschaft den Anschlag nicht als rechten Terror. Statt das Bekennerschreiben ernst zu nehmen, verdächtigten die Ermittler zeitweise sogar Bewohner*innen des Hauses. Die Täter wurden nie ermittelt.
