Questa è una considerazione di sicurezza da fare e considerare, prima di rendere evidente tante reti di interessi e conoscenze. Non tutti i software del fediverso hanno questa caratteristica, ma il plugin Activity pub per WP, che è in attivo sviluppo, al momento NON HA CONFIDENZIALITÀ dei FOLLOWER, dando in ricerca la possibilità di vedere i nomi dei profili delle utenti e da che istanze provengono”

Da diversi anni seguiamo da lontano l’ampliarsi dell’ecosistema fediverso, un sistema di microblogging, un variegato, eterodosso, decentralizzato, autogestito multiverso di server federati che parlano uno stesso protocollo. Simile alle e-mail, con un obiettivo pubblico, di scambio, di comunicazione, basato su comunità locali che si espandono in discussioni e idee sui più disparati temi contaminandosi a comunità affini. Osserviamo positivamente una possibile alternativa per uscire dall’ansia dei social network commerciali.

In questo calderone di magma comunicativo vogliamo dar la possibilità anche ai blogs anticapitalisti di sussurrare il loro messaggio.

Uno dei primi momenti di avvicinamento è stato il plugin mastodon-autopost, attivabile da chiunque usi Noblogs, che permette di pubblicare i propri post sull’istanza Mastodon di appartenenza. Questo meccanismo non ci faceva impazzire, poiché non era veramente federabile (richiede infatti l’utilizzo di un account Mastodon esterno, per la pubblicazione). Abbiamo quindi deciso di provare ad espandere WordPress per implementare il protocollo ActivityPub, così da far comunicare Noblogs direttamente con il fediverso.

Dopo alcuni sforzi… ci siamo! È ora possibile attivare il plugin ActivityPub per il proprio blog del collettivo, del gruppo politico, della compagine transfemminista, delle sataniche sessioni di riparazioni di biciclette… In breve da ora sarà possibile seguire qualunque noblog da parte degli utenti del fediverso!

Questo porta con sé alcuni dettagli tecnici che riportiamo qui di seguito.

* Nel fediverso, usando ActivityPub, si seguono specifici utenti di una specifica istanza e con Noblogs non si fa eccezione: non si può generalmente “seguire un blog”, bisogna seguire uno specifico utente del blog, come ad esempio mionome@mioblog.noblogs.org. Se si gestisce un blog in cui molti utenti postano indipendentemente, questo può non essere il livello di interazione desiderato. In tal caso, il plugin mastodon-autopost continua ad offrire un’alternativa valida. Stiamo comunque continuando a ricercare soluzioni migliori per questo scenario.

* Il modello di interazione e di partecipazione offerto da questo plugin è pensato per essere unidirezionale: gli utenti del fediverso possono seguire utenti su Noblogs, il contrario non è attualmente possibile.

Una volta attivato il plugin ActivityPub su un blog, per esempio mioblog con utente mionome:

* Il proprio identificativo ActivityPub diventa @mionome@mioblog.noblogs.org

* Gli utenti del fediverso possono seguirvi utilizzando questo identificativo (per esempio, in Mastodon lo si può inserire nel form Search)

* Ogni post pubblicato sarà disponibile anche ai propri followers del fediverso

* I followers sono approvati automaticamente, si può vedere l’elenco in ogni momento da Bacheca > Utenti > Followers

Chi anche volesse rendere disponibile l’eco del proprio blog nel fediverso, può aggiungere un widget, un simpatico link grafico, aggiungendo un frammento HTML come il seguente (sostituendo mionome e mioblog con i valori appropriati per il proprio blog):

Cliccando sul link, compare un form che chiede di loggarsi e dirige ad una pagina della propria istanza Mastodon per confermare (cioè implementa il cosiddetto workflow di “remote follow”).

Consideriamo importante offrire la possibilità di comunicare e informare anche con la  comunità del fediverso e condividere quegli spazi dove si creano contenuti collettivi e non solo personali. Contenuti che crediamo siano in grado di incendiare le nostre giornate e dare voce alle nostre lotte.

Quindi perché non provare a fare entrambe le cose?

Noblogs communicates in the fediverse! Fluently!

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Not all the privacy features we have in Noblogs, in the relationship: who hosts/who writes/who reads, are reflected in the federation and plugin implementations.

Every mastodon user who FOLLOWS a Noblogs site, is PUBLICLY listable.

This is a security consideration to make and consider, before making so many networks of interests and knowledge obvious. Not all software in the fediverse has this feature, but the Activity pub plugin for WP, which is under active development, currently has NO CONFIDENTIALITY of FOLLOWERS, giving in search the ability to see the name the names of users and what instances they come from

For several years we have been following the expansion of the fediverse ecosystem, a microblogging system, a variegated, heterodox, decentralized, self-managed multiverse of Federated servers that speak the same protocol. Similar to e-mails, with a public objective of exchange, communication, based on local communities that expand into discussions and ideas on the most disparate topics, contaminating themselves with similar communities. We look positively at a possible alternative to get out of the anxiety of commercial social networks.

In this cauldron of communicative magma we also want to give anti-capitalist blogs the opportunity to whisper their message.

Our first approach was the mastodon-autopost plugin, available to all Noblogs users, which allows you to publish your posts on your Mastodon instance. We weren’t satisfied about this mechanism, as it requires the use of an external Mastodon account for publishing. We therefore decided to try and expand WordPress to implement the ActivityPub protocol so that Noblogs could communicate directly with the fediverse.

After some effort, here we are! It is now possible to activate the ActivityPub plugin for your own blog, whether for your collective, the political group, the transfeminist group, the satanic bicycle repair sessions… In short, from now it will be possible to follow any “noblog” in the fediverse!

This new feature brings with it some technical details:

* In the fediverse, using ActivityPub, you follow specific users of a specific instance, and with Noblogs this is no exception: you can’t generally “follow a blog”, you have to follow a specific user of the blog, such as myname@myblog.noblogs.org. If you run a blog where many users post independently, this may not be the level of interaction you want. In that case, the mastodon-autopost plugin continues to offer a viable alternative. However, we are looking for better solutions for this scenario.

* The interaction and participation model offered by this plugin is designed to be one-way only: fediverse users can follow users on Noblogs, while the opposite is currently not possible.

From now on it is therefore possible to follow a Noblogs user also using other instances that speak ActivityPub and that exist in the Fediverse network.

Once the ActivityPub plugin is activated on a blog, for example myblog with user myname:

* Your ActivityPub identifier becomes @myname@myblog.noblogs.org

* Fediverse users can follow you using this identifier (for example, in Mastodon it can be entered in the Search form)

* Each published post will also be available to your followers in the fediverse

* Followers are automatically approved, you can see the list anytime from Wall > Users > Followers

For those who also want to make their blog available in the fediverse, it is possible to add a widget, with a simple “follow” button, by adding an HTML fragment like the following (replacing myname and myblog with the appropriate values for the blog) :

We consider important to offer the possibility of communicating and interacting with the fediverse community and sharing those spaces where collective and not just personal content is created. Content that we believe can set our days on fire and give voice to our struggles.

So why not try to do both?
